This vintage glass vase which we have named "Midnight Garden" features a striking squat, bulbous silhouette, measuring 6 inches tall and 8 inches wide at its widest point, with both the base and top opening measuring 3.5 inches across. It is crafted from a moody, smoky gray glass that serves as a high-contrast backdrop for a dense, highly detailed silver floral overlay and silverplated rim. The metallic pattern wraps entirely around the body and showcases large, stylized floral blooms, delicate filler flowers, and textured leaves. The silver design extends up to a solid metallic band around the flared upper rim. Note: There is some visible wear and tarnishing to the silver finish, particularly around the top rim. Based on the style and manufacturing technique this style is known as "Silver Deposit" or "Silver Overlay" glass. It is created using an electroplating process where a conductive flux is painted onto the glass in the desired pattern (in this case, the flowers), and then silver is electrically bonded to that flux. This specific combination of smoked glass and heavy silver floral overlay was highly popular during the Mid-Century period, roughly from the 1940s through the 1970s. It is unmarked, there are no chips or cracks.
